The third piece in my "Of My Heart" collection is inspired by a trip to Anacapa Island in the Channel Islands with my dad and brother. On our journey, we encountered a mysterious portal-like fog hovering over the water’s edge—a surreal and sacred moment on an otherwise clear, sunny day. We stopped the boat and sat in silence, feeling at peace and connected to this extraordinary place, as though it was alive and speaking to us through the elements of water and air. Within minutes, the fog disappeared like a whisper in the wind, leaving us in awe and gratitude for the glimpse into nature’s world.
This painting reflects the need to protect Marine Protected Areas (MPAs), vital habitats that allow nature and humanity to coexist and thrive. By preserving these spaces from threats like overfishing and pollution, we ensure that rare, sacred experiences like this can continue to exist in our ever-changing world.
