This piece was inspired by a scuba diving trip to Bonaire, where I encountered a small brown seahorse hidden in the sand. At first, I didn’t see it—just what looked like a tiny stick. As I hovered closer, I noticed its eye staring back at me. In that moment, we shared a quiet connection, admiring each other before it floated away, unmoved by my presence.
 
Like the Green Sea Turtle, seahorses are threatened by habitat loss, climate change, and pollution. Through this painting, I hope to highlight the delicate beauty of these creatures and the urgent need to protect their fragile habitats.
