Inspired by a scuba diving trip to Bonaire, this piece captures a magical encounter with a small brown seahorse at the bottom of the ocean. A friend signaled me to look closer, and what seemed like a stick in the sand revealed itself to be a seahorse, its tiny eye staring back at me. Hidden in plain sight, it floated calmly as we shared a brief moment of admiration before parting ways. Like the Green Sea Turtle, seahorses face threats from habitat loss, climate change, and pollution. Through this painting, I hope to inspire others to protect these delicate creatures and their fragile habitats.
